Might Be Displayed

They asked whose sin had sealed his eyes—

which were dim.

He said, "that God's work might be displayed

in him."

The answer was simple

yet it was complex:

Not who causes sin,

but what causes God to be manifest.

Don't stare at the illness

and wonder why,

But look to the caregiver

standing nearby—

That is where God's work

might be displayed,

The smelting fire

where silver is made,

Burning the dross,

refining the one who stays.

God's work might be seen

when you witness their caring ways.
